A Partnership to Achieve Excellent Attendance
At Irby Primary School, we believe that good attendance is key to helping every child reach their full potential. Coming to school regularly and on time gives children the very best chance to succeed, both now and in the future.
We value working in partnership with our families to achieve excellent attendance together. When children are in school every day and arrive punctually, they are able to make the most of their learning and develop the habits that will support them in later life, including further education and employment.
At Irby, we will always encourage and support good attendance and punctuality. Where attendance does not meet our high expectations, we will work with families to put in place effective strategies to help bring about improvement.
Reporting Pupil Sickness Absence
Parents should report absence using the Arbor Parent Portal message system to inform the school about your child’s absence. The absence message must be submitted by 9:00am on each day of the child’s absence.
To log an absence for your child, open the Arbor Parent Portal and App, go to the Attendance section, click the green Log Absence button, enter the start/end times and reason, and submit the request for school’s information.
Leave During Term Time
We kindly ask parents to avoid taking children out of school during term time wherever possible. If an absence during term time is unavoidable due to exceptional circumstances, parents must complete an Application for Leave During Term Time form. This should be returned at least two weeks before the requested absence and before confirming any bookings. Parents will receive a written response within one week of submitting the form, confirming whether the absence will be authorised or unauthorised.
